On Oct. 23, students at Saint Leo University came together for a special event called “Pink Out Bingo”. It was held in the Student Community Center (SCC) boardrooms and was to raise awareness for Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
This event was to show support for people affected by breast cancer. Students who wore pinkwere allowed to get two bingo cards to have an extra chance to win a prize! The students played bingo as well as learning more about this cause.
Pink Out Bingo was not just about winning prizes and competing. It was also about being aware of learning and caring for people who go through this tragic disease.
The organizer, Whitney Cherrelus, made important points about why students should be aware and supportive through resources provided by friends, family, and others who may be going through treatment. The pink theme helped remind everyone what the event was truly about.

“This was the first bingo for cause, and there will definitely be more,” said Whitney Cherrelus, a senior student majoring in Marketing with a minor in Economics.
The room was full of energy and smiles. Students laughed and enjoyed playing bingo together. Campus Activities Board (CAB) provides awesome prizes such as a foldable lab desk, beanless bag chair, Legos, Polaroid Go camera, mini waffle maker, mini projector, microwaves, Budakramen noodles, Meta Quest 3S, and an iPad. The iPad is one of the most popular prizes that students wanted to win.
As students arrived at the event, they signed up with their student ID, and one of the CAB members gave them a choice between a sticker or a bracelet representing Breast Cancer Awareness.
“The bingo averaged around 140 students, which is good for mid-semester bingo. I believe that they enjoyed it, especially because it was the second bingo of the semester with great prizes,” added Cherrelus.
Pink Out Bingo showed how Saint Leo students care about each other and the world around them. By joining this event, students helped raise awareness and shared hope. It was a reminder that even small actions like wearing pink or playing bingo can make a big difference. CAB did a great job planning the event and making sure everyone felt welcome during their time as a student at Saint Leo.

“I enjoy seeing students come together to create community, share laughter, and bond over winning amazing prizes. I also love when we steer away from the prize, make little jokes together, and just dance to music. Those moments create the Saint Leo spirit, and CAB is happy to foster those moments,” added Cherrelus.
Pink Out Bingo was more than just a game night. It was a chance to learn, support, and be part of something bigger. Events like this help build a strong and caring campus community. As Breast Cancer Awareness Month continues, Saint Leo students carry the message forward: we stand together, we support each other, and we believe in hope.
