The semester is coming to an end and finals week is upon us. It is only natural then that the Campus Activities Board would present its last Bingo Night of the fall semester. As usual, the event took place in the boardrooms of the SCC building Nov. 28 at 7 p.m.

As it was the last bingo night of the semester, CAB spiced up the event by wrapping up the prizes as one would with Christmas wrapping paper. From the start, it was obvious that Bingo Night was popular among the Saint Leo community, as students started waiting in line 30 minutes before the start of the activity.

The rules of bingo were the same as they have always been; to win, one would have to align five squares horizontally, vertically or diagonally. Here at Saint Leo, other variants of the game have been used with the Lion community. For instance, a round can consist of playing regular bingo, L-shaped bingo, small and big picture frame bingo or blackout bingo. The prizes for this bingo night were worth the time waiting in line. It appeared to be ladies’ night as they were on a roll and getting the best gifts. A student was lucky enough to win a type of massage chair; another won a pair of Apple air pods, while one girl won a Keurig coffee maker and accessories. The top prize that all the male community had been eyeing, the PlayStation 4 gaming device, was also won by a female student. A funny anecdote that could not be overlooked in general, is the fact that gaming console have only been won by a male student once. The mystery gift for the night had been four movie tickets.

Nicole Pesce, a junior majoring in history had been coming to bingo night for a while and was rewarded by lady luck for her grit as she was the winner of a Keurig machine and k-cups. “It’s the first time that I have won,” she said. She was looking forward to making coffee with her Keurig instead of choosing the option of selling the Keurig.

Leanne Rdesinsky, a freshman majoring in biology won a stereo turntable. “I have records home so I will be playing some music,” she said.

Bingo night was a success, despite having only a few winners, rest assured that the next Bingo night will host the same numbers of participants, as everyone is always up to trying their luck.
