On Thursday, Nov. 9, the University Campus was emblazoned with various forms of appreciation for Veterans that are a part of and around the Saint Leo Community. The Department of Military Affairs and Services, under the direction of Colonel Pamela Martis, stationed several staging areas around the Student Community Center and the SCC Bowl. Representatives from several local organizations such as Career Source Pasco Hernando, Pasco Sheriff’s Office, and Pasco County Housing Authority were available to assist veterans and students alike with their services. Food was provided for the event by U.S.A.A and a game room was set up where…

After a win and a loss in the first two games of the season in Tennessee, the Saint Leo Women’s Basketball team returned home to find themselves locked in a tough battle against the Florida Southern Mocs. With four players standing at six-foot-one or taller (their tallest player is 6’4”), the Mocs entered the game with a significant advantage in size, but Florida Southern dominated the game in more ways than just owning the paint. From the opening tip-off, the Lions struggled to get off open shots. Over the course of the game, the home team attempted 53 field goals,…

Can you imagine finding out secrets about your family history? How about being an elderly individual, who is eager to meet a sibling that you’ve been separated from since a toddler? The documentary “Aida’s Secret” is based on a true story about the life of Aida Zasadisinska. The film stars Izsak Sagi and Shep Shell. The melancholy yet, jovial documentary was released on Oct. 20, 2017, and was written and produced by Hail Efrat, Alon Schawarz, and Shaul Schawarz. Sixty- seven (67) year old Izsak is searching for his long-lost brother, from the onset we are instantaneously taken on a…

Originally released at the Toronto International Film Festival last year, “All I See Is You” hit theaters on Friday, Oct. 27. It was directed by Marc Forster (“World War Z”) and written by Sean Conway (“Shameless.”) “All I See Is You” is an indie psychological drama that focuses on Gina, played by Blake Lively (“Gossip Girl”) and her marriage with James, played by Jason Clark (“Dawn of the Planet of the Apes.”) Gina’s mother and father were killed in a car accident when she was ten, which left her blind, though her sister seemed to have no physical impairments following…

On Oct. 27, 2017, Ubisoft’s latest entry in the Assassin’s Creed series was released, “Assassin’s Creed Origins.” “Origins” is the tenth installment in the Assassin’s Creed series, and the first installment since the 2015 “Assassins Creed Syndicate.” “Origins” was highly anticipated due to its setting and impressive trailer at 2017’s Electronic Entertainment Expo. Luckily, it seems it may live up to the hype. One complaint about the Assassin’s Creed series is that a new game comes out every year, not much would change, and they would always be set in a European country instead of going into more interesting countries.…

On Friday, Nov. 3, Saint Leo black box theater had its first showing of “The Secret in the Wings,” a play by Mary Zimmerman. The play was directed by Dr. Alicia Corts, the Assistant Professor of Dramaturgy, who was also the music director of the show.     “The Secret in the Wings” is a play that combines lesser-known fairy tales and myths with an ugly mystique and a childish humor all in one. The audience was thrilled and spooked at the same time as the play quickly transitioned between a humorous to a melancholy tone without warning. The show successfully managed to incorporate the…

The New Orleans Saints kept winning while the New York Giants continued their terrible season with a loss to the San Francisco 49ers. Many elite fantasy football stars failed to have good games, but there were some surprises from some lesser-known players. Here are the best performances from this past weekend in fantasy football. Mark Ingram, RB New Orleans Saints: In a game where the Saints ran…
