Breast Cancer Awareness Month Acknowledged at Saint Leo University

October is nationally recognized as Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Breast cancer forms in the cells of the breasts of both women and, rarely, men. According to the National Breast Cancer Foundation, one in eight women will develop invasive breast cancer in their lifetime. Next year, new breast cancer diagnoses are expected to number more than 200,000 for women and more than 2,000 for men.

University ministry fall retreat

Multiple campus organizations have planned events for students to get together and learn from valuable experiences to alleviate the stress of midterms. One of these groups is Saint Leo’s University Ministry. The Ministry leaders planned a multi-day off-campus retreat during which students journaled, learned from guest speakers, and participated in fun activities.

Taylor Swift’s Midnights album is here, and already breaking records

Alarms were set for 12a.m. Pajama parties were held. Social media was raging. Singer-songwriter Taylor Swift watched as the affectionately coined “Swifties” lost their minds over her brand-new tenth studio album, Midnights. Millions enthusiastically canceled their plans on Oct. 21, 2022, to listen to Midnights at, you guessed it, midnight.

For such a sunny, tropical city, Tampa Bay certainly has a large following of ice hockey fans. The Tampa Bay Lightning won back-to-back during the Stanley Cup Championships in 2020 and 2021, and you would be hard-pressed to find a car in this city without the signature lightning bolt decal on the back.

Alpha Psi Omega Celebrates National Arts And Humanities Month

National Arts and Humanities Month is an annual celebration held every October that celebrates the different kinds of arts. Those arts include writing, painting, dancing, and many other unique forms of expressing creativity. One of these forms of creativity is theatre, a performance art where characters, played by actors, perform in front of a live audience. Saint Leo University is home to a chapter of Alpha Psi Omega, better known as the National Theatre Honor Society.

Every day at Saint Leo University, students can be seen on their way to class with their essentials: their backpacks, phones, and a cup of coffee to start the day off right. At the beginning of October, we celebrated International Coffee Day. Since then, people from all over the world have celebrated by enjoying the popular beverage and sharing it on social media.
