Following the end of a five-year contract with Coca-Cola, Saint Leo will now be providing Pepsi products on University Campus.

PepsiCo and Celsius representatives were present at Monday’s kick-off event to help answer questions about the partnership.

“We want to educate people and inform them, so they know exactly what Celsius is and what differentiates us from other energy drinks,” said Beatrice Roosmark, the marketing manager for Celsius in the Tampa Bay area.

During the event, Roosmark helped to promote the products that will be now available on University Campus following the change.

“I’m excited to see all of the different products,” said Dawn McElveen, the director of student and family engagement. “It’s cool to see the flavor shot machine in the Dining Hall.”

Some students were skeptical about the transition from Coca-Cola to PepsiCo products, but were intrigued by the variety of beverages offered during the kick-off event.

“I actually prefer Coca-Cola,” said Kevin Horwedel, who is pursuing a Master of Arts in Theology and works as a credential evaluation specialist for the registrar’s office. “But the Starry [beverage]… that was pretty good.”

The partnership, however, is not only limited to soda, however, as Gatorade, Starbucks, Bubly, Pure Life Tea, LIFEWTR, Celsius, and other products will also be made available with the transition.

“I’m very excited that Celsius will be more available on campus,” said Lucas Nocera, the interim director of University Ministry and an adjunct theology instructor.

In conclusion, the Pepsi kickoff event provided an opportunity for the community to reconnect following spring break and to learn about Saint Leo’s official beverage provider.

“I got to meet some new people and, overall, [it]was a positive experience,” said Horwedel.
