Tensions are High as “The Bachelor” Comes out of Hometown Week

0

After a shocking departure of Hannah B. in last week’s episode, bachelor Colton Underwood blindsided America with another surprising send home. This time it was Caelynn who was not given a rose at the end of the episode making it back to back weeks with Miss USA contestants being sent home by Colton.

Week seven followed the prototypical hometown dates that fans are used to seeing in seasons past with the girls taking the bachelor to meet their families and do an activity during the day. This week tends to be high stress for both the contestants and the bachelor as one side is only two weeks away from a possible engagement if they can make it through, and later has to meet four families and engage in what always turns out to be an awkward conversation with a skeptical father.

This week was no different as Colton was tasked with meeting the four families and was on a mission to receive each girls’ fathers’ blessing for their daughter’s hand in marriage. Unfortunately for the 27-year-old ‘virgin’ bachelor, accomplishing his feat of getting a blessing proved to be a laboring task. Each father seemed to beat around the bush when it came to answering the question but eventually was won over by Colton and he received their blessing, except for Cassie’s father.

Cassie was already going into the hometown date on thin ice after barely scraping by in week six and being the most reserved about her feelings towards the bachelor. While the day date went well with her and Colton going surfing in her home state of California, things got tense at dinner later that night when Cassie’s father didn’t want to give away his blessing because he thought it would be a “premature blessing.” The night only got worse for Colton when at the end of the visit he asked about her feelings for him. Cassie was hesitant to commit to Colton while the other remaining contests admitted that they were in love or at least falling in love with him.

Cassie’s hometown date was the last one of the episode leading them into the rose ceremony, and it seemed like a sure shot that she was going to be the one not receiving a rose. After Hannah G. and Tayshia received a rose from Colton, it was Cassie who got the final rose, something that seemed impossible based on what had transpired earlier in the episode. Caelynn was indeed blindsided, and most people can agree that she deserved to go on. Hopefully, she will be given a second chance on this summer’s season of Bachelor In Paradise or possibly become the next Bachelorette.

Week eight is sure to bring more fireworks as the end of the season starts to wrap up with fantasy suites being the next big theme coming up. Fantasy suites prove to have a tough predicament for the show this time around. The bachelor who has claimed he is a virgin will have a completely different mindset on this set of dates compared to former bachelors and bachelorettes. Fantasy suites allow contestants to spend the night with the bachelor and while the details of what happens stay off camera, anything can happen on the week eight dates. What is known however based on the previews is that Colton does have some sort of meltdown that leads him to finally jump a literal fence, a scene that Bachelor fans have been waiting for all season. Whatever happens next episode on Colton’s quest for love is sure to have its share of drama and laughs as bachelor nation patiently awaits the season finale that is right around the corner.
