Witches, clowns, and goblins galore! Halloween is coming quickly, so let’s reminisce about all of our favorite Halloween/horror movies.

Everyone loves to watch a good movie; especially around the holidays. There’s just something about cuddling up in a blanket at night, with the start of cooler weather outside and watching one of your favorite Halloween movies. As soon as October hits, Halloween is advertised everywhere; in the stores, on radio stations, and of course television.

Halloween movies go back years and years; from The Adams Family to the movie Scream. When we think of spooky movies, most of us probably think of the classic, Hocus Pocus, but there are so many other Halloween movies out there to choose from. An example of some other frightful favorites is Beetlejuice, The Haunted Mansion, and Casper the Ghost. Let’s not forget about the actual scary movies like Freddy and Jason or Trick’ r Treat. These will make you jump out of your seat.

So, what do Saint Leo students find fascinating to watch around Halloween time? Bailey Alleman, Junior Accounting major, said: “Hocus Pocus is my favorite Halloween movie because it reminds me of my childhood.”

Most of Saint Leo’s students all said they remember one thing about their childhood. As soon as Oct 1 would hit, all of the Disney Halloween movies would start getting advertised, and that’s how they knew Halloween was right around the corner. It was almost like a sign to start buying the costumes and putting up decorations.

When asking about which kind of movies students prefer watching around Halloween time, most said they would choose a cute Halloween movie instead of a horror movie. It helps to get in the Halloween spirit. Alejandra Rincon, Senior Marketing major, said that although she likes cute Halloween movies with the pumpkins and ghosts, she does not mind a good thriller or suspenseful movie around Halloween time. “My favorite movie would have to be Nightmare Before Christmas because of the music,” said Rincon. “I like how it has the Christmas aspect along with the spookiness of Halloween.”

Every college student has their own taste in Halloween favorites; some scary and some cliché. No matter what movie it may be, grab a cup of apple cider, cuddle up in a blanket, and enjoy your favorite spooky movies!
