Halloween in College

Remember Halloween when you were a little kid? It was epic: you got to dress up as your favorite superhero or Disney princess, walk around the neighborhood, and gather enough Snickers bars to produce a jaw full of cavities.

But Halloween as a college student? It’s almost more amazing than that childhood Lion King costume everyone is still proud of. There’s no curfew, parental supervision, and, most importantly, there’s still get the candy.

College students don’t have to have to stop enjoying Halloween. Everyone loves getting free candy and dressing up, especially college students.

There are several bonus to trick-or-treating by doing it on a college campus. No parental supervision, classes until noon, and getting to make friends with people from around the world instead of just around the neighborhood are just a few.

“Halloween in college,” even those words together sound wild. Halloween is the day anything can happen, and college is known for their parties. You’re still dressing up in costumes and ostensibly eating candy, but Halloween in college is also so much more than that.

For most college students, Halloween is the highlight of their social life in the fall. Here’s why:

It can last for days. In high school, Halloween was pretty much ruined if it fell on any day other than a Friday or Saturday. People couldn’t go wild and crazy on a school night! In college, however, it really doesn’t matter what day of the week October 31 is. People can still party hard because they either don’t have early classes or you have the freedom to skip them.

Also, Halloween is no longer just one day. This year, the school will experience Halloween Apocalypse. That’s because Halloween falls on a Thursday, which means parties will be happening the Saturday and Wednesday before, then that Thursday and the following Friday and Saturday. Get ready, and plan multiple costumes. Also get ready for Haunted Marmion and be ready for some surprises.

Lots of parties that include candy! College has many parties that include a never ending supply of candy. People can go to as many parties and collect as much candy as they can without anyone saying anything. As long as they are not acting stupid and trying to get themselves arrested they should be fine.

Compete for the best costumes.  Students will be surprised to see how many people still dress up for Halloween. Don’t be the one who doesn’t dress up. Funny costumes, outlandish costumes, sassy costumes—enjoy being able to dress and act like whatever you want!

At last, be safe. Everyone knew this part was coming. Mothers probably say this all the time, but it bears repeating: be safe! Halloween is a night for fun, but it also sees a huge spike in crime (including violent crime and assault), as well as personal injuries. People always need to watch their drinks some nasty things can get put in them. Never go anywhere alone. Just because someone is in college student doesn’t mean that bad things can happen to him or her. Most important of all, be smart and alert.

Enjoy the Halloween revelry in college! Before we know it we’ll all be handing candy to kids in the neighborhood.
