Mexican Cuisine is one of the most demanded and most enjoyed by Americans. Luckily, there is a local favorite Mexican eatery in Dade City, Del Carmen Mexican Store & Restaurant.

The decor of the restaurant had vibrant colors that brought the restaurant to life. Seated, a server kindly brought out free chips and salsa. Although the chips were basic, the addition of freshly chopped cilantro and onions made the salsa a perfect mix of savory and spicy.

Jennifer Martinez, a junior majoring in psychology and minoring in criminal justice stated, “The restaurant reminded me of a time when I was home at my abuela’s eating at home cooked Mexican food.”

Although the menu was extensive, they offered a very enticing dish, a Mexican classic: three lengua tacos. In other words, tacos with cow tongue meat. Usually, the desired texture of the meat is soft but also savory.

After ordering food, one of the downsides of the establishment started to show. There was a 40-minute wait for the arrival of food and their other tables were getting their food more quickly. But after a bit of realization, it is better to judge on the taste of the rather than the wait.

Once the food arrived, the smell of the hot lengua tacos flowed from the plate all the way to the table. The cilantro, onions, and salsa made the tacos colorful and stand out. Taking the first bite, there was a waterfall of flavors. Even the tortilla of the taco felt soft like a blanket.

Overall, the food was 4.5 stars out 5, and the experience was 4 stars out of 5. This restaurant is great for gatherings or celebrations with family or friends and is certainly a place to return to.
