Eddie and Sam’s NY Pizza Review

As a northerner, there is nothing I love more than a good slice of pizza. However, living in Florida for the last four years has proven difficult in finding the perfect pizza place, that is, until I discovered Eddie and Sam’s New York Pizza.  Typically I ignore places in Florida that claim to have New York pizza, but this place is the real deal.  Just a short drive away, in the heart of downtown Tampa, Eddie and Sam’s is the perfect place to go for a quick slice.  One of the best things about the small restaurant is the atmosphere; it truly feels like you walked off the streets of New York from the decor to the people working.

Since it is quick-service, upon entering you get right in line to order, only to be faced with a case filled with every kind of pizza imaginable that you can choose from.  My personal favorite is the classic cheese pizza, and what makes it even better is that they offer a special: two slices of cheese and a fountain drink for only $5, you can’t beat that. I am also partial to their eggplant parmigiana pizza; however, you really can’t go wrong as all of their pizza is pretty good. Also, right in the back of the restaurant, for those who have room for dessert, one can get hand-scooped gelato!

What sets Eddie and Sam’s apart from other “New York” pizzerias in Florida is that they actually use water from New York in their dough.  They ship the water in from New York to maintain the authentic “New York style” pizza, which is often characterized by the flavor and thickness of the crust.

So, if you are looking for a quick slice or even a whole pizza that tastes great and wants to enjoy a bit of New York in downtown Tampa, Eddie and Sam’s is the place to go.  The food is delicious, authentic and most definitely within a college budget; anyone who visits will not be disappointed!
