Spring is underway and summer is creeping up. One of the things to look forward to is the music festivals that usually take place around this time of year.

House music has taken the U.S. by storm this last year, and artists such as Swedish House Mafia, Avicii, and Zedd are now at a hiatus that they were never on before.

Following Swedish House Mafia’s announcement of their split and the massive success of their last world tour “One Last tour” that took place in grand locations such as Dubai, Stockholm, New York and LA, music enthusiasts have been seeking to attend concerts and music festivals now more than ever.

This spring break witnessed one of the largest house music festivals known to the industry, “Ultra” or “Ultra fest” is a three day music festival with a large variety of house music DJ’s from all around the world. “Ultra” takes place every year in Miami, usually in the March period, and is always a must-go-to event for many fans.

For many students, “Ultra” is known to be the highlight of spring break, and with two weekend dates to choose from, many students who planned to go lucked out when the festival dates were in perfect timing with spring break.

“Ultra” took place this year on two separate weekends, the first weekend went on from March 15-17 and the second weekend commenced from March 22-24.

Ticket prices varied $300 and went up to $800 for VIP packages. Online merchants had tickets that cost up to $1200.

In addition to the great music, location, and weather, the festival is highly anticipated for the energy from the fans. Ultra is also known to have a great display of light shows which are always in sync with the developments of the beat and rhythm of the songs.

Many Saint Leo students have been saving up and some were lucky to grab tickets before they all sold out last minute.

Freshmen Maxime Markowski expressed his enthusiasm in regards to Ultra.

“I love Ultra, I am going in order to hear the best DJ’s of the world all come together in one huge show.  It’s also exciting because I get the chance to meet my friends who don’t attend school here and hope to meet new people.”

Markowski said, “I am looking forward to seeing Swedish House Mafia the most as this is their final performance together following their last tour which recently ended, I know they will be great and it will be amazing to witness one of music’s finest moments.”

For house music enthusiasts who weren’t able to attend Ultra, the European version “Tomorrowland” which usually takes place in Belgium has added an additional festival for the first time ever in the US which will be taking place in Atlanta this coming September, it is a three day festival with tickets starting at $350.
