It is almost time for elections. Are you ready to make a difference? Political advertisements, interviews, and speeches are being publicized in the favor of each candidate working to earn your trust, or more specifically your vote. But before you can think about who you believe can make a positive change, you must be registered in the state of Florida to vote. For those who are not registered in the state of Florida to vote, there is a simple solution that will have you ready for November 4th, 2012.

For those who are not yet registered to vote or students who are registered in a different state, absentee balloting is the option for you.  Absentee balloting is available for citizens who aren’t registered in the state of Florida to vote or for others who would prefer early voting. Therefore a citizen doesn’t have to necessarily be out of their state of residence to request an absentee ballot. Absentee ballots can be acquired after a request has been made to an individual’s Supervisor of Elections in a number of ways. A request for an absentee ballot can be made in person, by telephone, through mail, and there are even websites that allow citizens to request a ballot, such as www.AbsenteeBallots.com.

This site offers step by step instructions on how to request and fill out an absentee ballot form. Unlike a number of sites that offer information about absentee balloting, this site does not require the user to create an account to make a request. However, Information such as the voter’s name, address, birth date, and signature are all essential in the process. Ballots are to be given to the Supervisor of Elections no later than 7pm on Election Day.  Citizens who are native to Florida simply need to be registered to vote.

As a registered voter, when present at the election polls each state still has a specified list of documentation that is required to be presented before the individual is allowed to vote. Floridians who are registered to vote are asked to present their driver’s license or, if this item isn’t available, the citizen’s social security card will suffice.

Voting is the one chance you have to truly make a change for your own nation. The direction in which this country takes is dependent on the thoughts of its citizens and this opportunity is not presented often. Every vote counts and every voice matters; seize this opportunity and make the trip to the poll booth on Election Day!
