As a part of an initiative to bring Saint Leo to Dade City and the community of Dade City to Saint Leo First Thursdays was created to show students what Dade City has to offer. There has been discussion over making street signs with the name Lion Country of Field of Pride to integrate Saint Leo into Dade City. Saint Leo students are being encouraged to explore Dade City more and the community is being encouraged to come to public speaker series on campus and athletic events.

Those involved in First Thursdays are trying to start a friendly rivalry between organizations on campus with events going on during First Thursdays. This they feel will make students excited about First Thursdays and a healthy competitiveness will give students bragging rights until the next month when students can defend their title or others can take it away.

Students can get their Roarwards card punched which leads to prizes, and athletics also gave other prizes away at this past First Thursday. The local vendors had coupons or vouchers to encourage people to visit their business and some businesses stayed open longer for convenience. To encourage student involvement in First Thursdays Student Services offered transportation from Security beginning at 5:45 so students could arrive at 6 p.m. the vans ran continuously so students are able to be taken back and forth from then until 8 p.m.
