Saint Leo University’s Women’s Soccer team secured a 2-0 victory against conference rival, Lynn University on Oct. 10, at the Saint Leo Soccer Field, getting them their third Sunshine State Conference victory of the season and three more points for the ranking.

The win gave the Lions an overall record of five wins and four losses, and a conference record of three wins and three losses under the coaching of new head coach Alex Greco.

With this result, the Lions secured their second consecutive conference win, after their victory against Barry University on Oct. 3. Saint Leo entered Saturday’s game looking to build on their previous performance and experience.

The Women’s Soccer team opened the scoring in the 28th minute of the match with Rhyanne Pascoe, a junior who majors in sports business, when she found the back of the net, scoring the first goal of the night and her season, giving them a 1-0 lead.

The team was able to keep the advantage through the first half, with goalkeeper Addison Pitts, a sophomore who majors in biomedical and health sciences, making a save to help keep Lynn away from scoring.

In the second half, the Lady Lions extended their lead in the 60th minute when Katherine Neves, a senior who majors in criminal justice, scored her first goal of the season and second goal of the night for the home team, giving them a 2-0 lead over Lynn.

It was an entertaining night with both teams recording six shots throughout the game; Saint Leo was able to place five of those shots on goal and Lynn only four. A big part of the win goes to Pitts, who finished the game with four saves and led the Green and Gold to their second consecutive victory.

The victory added three points to Saint Leo Women’s Soccer’s conference total, improving their record and reaching nine points, which helps them keep working towards a higher position in the conference standings and a chance to play in the playoff matches for the conference championship.

The result is also an important win in the team’s first season under coach Alex Greco, who was named head coach in July 2026.

Before joining the Lions, Greco spent four seasons as head coach at Adams State University, where he led the program to their first Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Tournament victory in 2025.

Saturday’s match had additional significance for Greco, who was previously an assistant coach at Lynn University and interim head coach in 2019. But this time, he had the opportunity to face his former program representing the Green and Gold.

Building momentum for the end of conference play

With four conference games left before the championship, the Lions look to keep building from their recent performance and maintain consistency as they face opponents like Eckerd College, Embry Riddle, Nova Southeastern, and Rollins College.

Hannah Kuster, Saint Leo Women’s Soccer’s newest assistant coach, reflects on the team’s victory from Saturday and the team’s determination to continue proving themselves.

“I think what we take away from this is that it doesn’t matter what other teams are saying about us,” Kuster said. “We can prove them wrong, and keep working in silence.”

With their back-to-back wins, the Lions have continued building confidence as they work to secure a spot in the SSC Championship.

Saint Leo will return to the field on Wednesday, Oct. 14, on the road at St. Petersburg to face Eckerd College in another SSC match.
