When we think of sports, we often think of the usual: soccer, hockey, golf, and tennis… But have you ever heard of ultimate frisbee? What about unicycle hockey or even quidditch? No, these are not made up. These are weird real-life sports that are turning heads all over the world!
In Spring 2022, Lester Williams Jr. left Saint Leo University with a degree in professional writing and a dream to continue being published. When he was a young teenager in New Providence, The Bahamas, Williams self-published a book of poetry. It was his first taste of the creative world.
As the sun set on the horizon, the Christmas tree lighting ceremony was set up near the clock tower outside of the Student Activities Building. The ceremony began with an introduction speech by the Vice President of Student Affairs, Jen Shaw, accompanied by Santa and Mrs. Claus. The promise of games, activities, and performances by Lucas Nocera, the Assistant Director of the University Ministry, as well as the music department had the crowd brewing up Christmas spirit.
On the evening of Nov. 16, students walking down by the Student Activities Building Loggia were presented with something truly extraordinary: a buffet line wrapped around the clock tower, full of excited and hungry students. The building was lined with tray after tray of delicious and aromatic food, each one unique to a specific culture and just waiting to be devoured.
Writing can look like many things to different people. For some students, it can be a nuisance, a 12-page paper due at midnight. For others, it can look like something vastly different: self-care. Self-care and writing came together in harmony during the Writing for Wellness event hosted by Saint Leo University’s Wellness Center on Wednesday, Nov. 16.

Even though this holiday is celebrated in the United States, people from across the planet celebrate Thanksgiving in their own way. Thanksgiving is celebrated in various other countries such as Canada, Germany, and Liberia.
The holidays are a time for gift-giving, decorating, and eating lots of food. Inevitably, this can lead to people creating more waste than they normally would. It is important when doing all these things during the Christmas season to be mindful of the planet and realize there are ways to help break the cycle of creating excessive amounts of waste.
There is nothing better than seeing a Thanksgiving table covered with bowls and plates of hot, mouthwatering food. While Saint Leo University students all come from many different places and backgrounds, one thing is for certain—they all love to eat. Naturally, we had to know—what is the best Thanksgiving food?
