When Northerners visit Florida, they assume Florida only has one season: summer. But if you are a Florida resident, you know that is not the case! Florida does have four seasons, but Florida just has a different type of weather than other states do.
The term “Florida Fall” is used to describe what Florida is like during the fall season, what to wear during this time because Florida’s fall consists of a range of 60 to 80 degrees, and an overall aesthetic of what autumn is like in Florida.
To people up North, that sounds like summer weather, but fall in Florida is the nicest weather the state gets (except for hurricane season).
In the summer, the temperature is usually in the high 90s, which can grow into the 100s, and is very humid. So, fall is a nice break from avoiding the heat. If you look around, everyone is outside during fall; kids are playing, people are going on more walks, and students are studying outside instead of inside.
Fall in Florida does include sunshine but also a nice breeze and less humidity. People normally can wear long pants and a T-shirt or short pants with a long-sleeve shirt. On some occasions, we can actually pull out our sweaters!
Florida does not get the freezing fall weather that most northern states do. We have all the same traditional fall activities such as pumpkin patches, fall festivals, and hayrides, just while not being super cold!

Rylie Uhrich, from Saginaw, Michigan, came and visited Florida during the fall season for the first time. “I thought it was very beautiful and the weather was nicer than summer,” says Uhrich.
Whether it is at a certain temperature or not, Florida’s fall season consists of crunchy orange and yellow leaves like northern states. The leaves don’t cover the trees, but they sprinkle across the ground. Seeing the leaves on the ground or on top of your car in the morning makes the season even more exciting.
The fall season is not always about how the weather feels or whether Florida has the same autumn as other states. It is about how you romanticize your seasons wherever your home state is.
Hot coffee on a chilly morning, taking a walk to look at the fall decorations, stepping on leaves, wearing sweaters and boots, and having cozy days with a fire on while watching a fall movie all make the season feel even more like fall.
Autumn might be different here, but it definitely is a wonderful season in Florida and is well loved by Floridians.
