Christmas spirit was in the air at Saint Leo University this week. On Nov. 30, the campus turned into a winter wonderland as the school held its traditional Christmas tree lighting and blessing of the tree for the holiday season.
After the 36 acres of land Judge Edmund F. Dunne offered as a gift to the Benedictine monks and sisters in 1886, Café 36 opened in spring 2022 inside the Wellness Center. Located downstairs of the main gym, Café 36 gave students a healthy on-campus dining option.
In 2023, many humanitarian crises unfolded globally, ranging from inevitable catastrophes such as natural disasters to enduring conflicts that span generations. Within these crises, countless innocent individuals find themselves entangled, enduring substantial suffering.
As Thanksgiving break approaches at Saint Leo University, many students prepare to go home while others stay on campus. Thanksgiving break allows students to pause, express gratitude for their growth and accomplishments, and recharge their energy for the challenges ahead, primarily their final exams.
While International Students’ Day is observed every year on Nov. 17, Saint Leo University held its 23rd annual International Food Night on Wednesday, Nov.15, in partnership with the Intercultural Student Association (ISA).
With its diverse campus, Saint Leo University hosts student organizations and activities that highlight international cultures. The Mr. and Ms. Intercultural Pageant on Nov. 12, 2023, showcased the abundant cultural diversity thriving at the university.

On Oct. 26, 2023, the second chapter of Saint Leo University’s respect and community workshop series was held. This workshop educated students on counteracting their unconscious and implicit bias.
On Oct. 26th, a special event was hosted by various organizations on campus to shed light on the experiences of the veterans in our community. These organizations include the Caribbean Student Association, the Department of Social Sciences, the Alpha Kappa Delta International Sociology Honor Society, and the Office of Military Affairs.
Students had a night of fun at the Moonlight Madness 2023 event. Sports are one of the best social connectors, and basketball is traditionally a sport that unites diverse groups worldwide.
