If you are uncertain about on-campus winter housing, here are the details:
All students who are planning to remain on campus over the Thanksgiving and winter break are required by Residence Life to complete the “Residential Student Survey for Thanksgiving and Winter Break” found in their housing portals. Students are warned that failure to fill out the survey by Nov.13, 2020, will result in a hold being placed on their account.
With regards to students with intentions to stay on campus over the winter break MUST request housing Friday, Dec. 8, 2020, at 5PM. To request housing, students must fill out the “2020 Winter Break Housing Application” found in the housing portal linked above. Students’ requests must be pre-approved by Residence Life. Those who get pre-approval to stay on campus after Dec. 12, 2020, will be charged a fee of $50 per day up to 7 days, after the 7th day, the charge will remain $400 for the remainder of the break. Students who did not complete the winter housing applications will have their student IDs deactivated until the start of the spring semester.
Residents who choose to remain on campus, will be charged a $50 improper check-out fee and a subsequent $50 fee per night.
“I will not be staying on campus this break because I would rather be home with my family[…]when I read the Res. Life email about the winter-break housing, I was shocked because they were so reasonable. I would definitely stay on campus if I didn’t live nearby,” said Madelyn Eden, a freshman majoring in business management with a concentration in accounting and finance at Saint Leo University.
Some International students are flying back home, while others are choosing to spend the holidays with family here in the U.S.
“I am not staying on campus during the break, instead I am heading on a flight back home to Jamaica,” said Ashleigh Ellis, an international student who is majoring in biomedical and health sciences at Saint Leo.
Unlike Eliis, Damion Drackett, also an international student majoring in biomedical and health sciences, is choosing to stay in the U.S for winter break.
“I will be spending the holidays with my family who lives in the states instead of going back to Jamaica.” said Drackett.
If students have any questions, Res. Life encourages students to email them at residence.life@saintleo.edu.
