As the end of semester draws to a close, students are occupied with worrying and preparing for finals. However, from time to time, there are stress-free study sessions on campus, like the recent event where you could study while sipping on some tasty boba tea.
This event was the Boba and Study event hosted by The Campus Activities Board (CAB) that took place on the evening of Dec. 4. During this event, students were able to stop by and study for various courses while enjoying a calm environment and some flavorful boba tea that was provided by CAB.
Ariel Munroe, a senior majoring in accounting and finance and the Diversity, Multicultural and Arts Chair for CAB, discussed more about this fun campus event.
“I wanted to find a fun and relaxing way to study, because for me studying is stressful,” said Munroe, explaining why she chose to host the event in the first place.
“I wanted to find something that everyone loves and incorporate that while still being productive at the same time,” she continued. “Most other chair events have finger food,” Munroe says, but by having access to boba, that brought the excitement for students.”
During this event, Munroe and her team served various flavors of boba which were made by them, excluding the popping boba which came pre-packaged. With the use of milk, brown sugar, and other flavors, they were able to make the tapioca boba and up to five different flavors of milk tea.
This display of variety was translated into all aspects of this event, as the milk used was both regular and lactose-free, per each student’s request.
Putting this event together was not easy. Munroe had to face various challenges. Such as acquiring certain much-needed ingredients, like hot water. Despite the various challenges, though, this event was an overall success.
“I feel [the event]went well,” said Munroe, as it was “less nerve wracking, and it was an easy process.” During the event, the line for boba tea was very long, with many students returning multiple times for more milk tea until all flavors were finished.
Students who feel as though they missed the event and were unable to enjoy the exciting boba will have another opportunity to do so next year, according to Munroe, who highlights that this event has been going on at Saint Leo for three years now.
As a senior, Monroe offered her guidance to students who are unfamiliar with the college workload and are getting ready for final exams.
“I would say, pick a quiet place to study,” she advises, saying she even studies with music to help stay focused and distraction free. “Also don’t stress about whatever you’re studying and focus on studying about what you don’t know instead focusing on what you know.”
Overall, this event was a success, very productive, and it gave students the opportunity to enjoy themselves while studying. Students can look forward to attending this event next year where they are able to prepare for final exams while enjoying some great tasting boba tea.
