With roses blooming, the smell of love in the air, and Valentine’s Day just days away, it’s clear that many students are celebrating Leo Love Week.
Among the unforgettable events this week, one special event has students testing their luck, leaving them to wonder if they should be saying “live, love, luck” this Valentines season instead?
This momentous celebration was the Love and Luck Bingo event, which took place on Feb. 12 and was hosted by the Campus Activities Board (CAB). During this event, students were able to socialize with their peers while showing and receiving love and testing out their own luck at winning some amazing prizes.

Whitney Cherrelus, a junior marketing major with a minor in economics and the Campus Engagement chair for CAB, provided more insight on what took place during this exciting love week event.
“I made sure that this bingo fell into Leo Love week, and it was originally centered around making people understand that love is literally CAB,” said Cherrelus.
Cherrelus expressed that the way CAB shows their love is with events that make fellow students have fun on campus, while also encouraging them and helping them make new friends. The Love and Luck Bingo event was surely an expression of that love.
During this event, students were able to participate in various bingo games to win individual prizes such as an Apple Watch, an iPad, a desk lamp, and so much more. However, many may wonder how the name came about, which Cherrelus was able to explain.
“So, the ‘Love,’ it relates to Valentine’s Day and being able to connect with others, even if it’s not romantically, but with friendship, by creating new friends and new connections,” stated Cherrelus. “And the ‘Luck,’ it’s bingo, you need luck. So, you put it together and you get Love and Luck Bingo.”
“You must make sure you’re a lucky person filled with love to be able to win,” said Cherrelus.
The fact that so many students won all the amazing prizes at this event just shows that the campus is filled with love. In fact, one of the winners of the night shared her thoughts on this loved filled event and how she felt winning a very special prize.
“I love coming to Bingo, it is really fun,” said Wren Cretchin, a senior majoring in marketing and the winner of the iPad, the biggest prize of the night. “It feels good to win since I have never really won at bingo, so I’m happy.”
Just like Cretchin, many other students shared their love for the event and the amazing prizes. With the number of students that participated, and the amount of love and excitement shown, this event was a success.

“Usually, a lot of people come to the first bingo, then they stop coming, but a lot of people came to this one,” stated Cherrelus “I feel like it’s because it was advertised better, we did posters this time, so people saw it coming out of their dorms, and we did a lot with social media.”
However, even with the success of this event, Cherrelus and her team are always looking for ways to improve the bingo events for students.
“I want to improve on decorations, I always strive to decorate my events, but I really wish we would get started with our CAB committee, which will be happening soon,” explained Cherrelus. “So, when we get started with this, they will be able to help us with decorating our events.”
While this is a goal Cherrelus aims to implement, the Love and Luck Bingo event was still an all-out success, proving that love is all around campus and that once you’re filled with love, luck will always follow.
