At Saint Leo University, there are various ways to ease the financial burdens of the semester and ensure that your education is paid for.

One way that students can pay for their spring expenses are through jobs. Being a full-time student hardly ever permits having a full-time job, however on-campus or part-time jobs usually fit comfortably in a freshman’s schedule, and can help to offset spring costs. Hannah Wiand, Sophomore, Religion Major and Clinical Counseling Psychology Minor, says that jobs are extremely beneficial when it comes to paying for her classes not only in the spring, but sometimes summer as well.

Saint Leo offers many employment opportunities for students, including residence assistant, office worker, and dining hall worker.

“I think jobs are something that are very beneficial when it comes to paying for school.” she said. “Even if you don’t make enough money to cover most of your tuition from a job, you could pay for just your meal plan and then that’s one less loan you would have to take out.”

Another way to pay is through payment plans. This is a great way for freshmen to pay for spring classes. Saint Leo offers the option of paying in installments so that students are not overwhelmed with a large cost at the end of the term. Senior, Management Major and Marketing Minor student, Tah-Lii Jackson, says that the payment plan can help students prevent spring registration issues and stay on track with their studies. “The payment plan is beneficial for those who need assistance in paying for school.” He said. “It is very beneficial for those who are not as fortunate (like many other students) to pay for school fully. It also helps students to register for classes helping them to attend early and on time.”

Another great way to pay for spring semester is through scholarships. Saint Leo offers many scholarship opportunities for freshmen that can run up to $13,000. These are often renewable and are awarded based on a variety of criteria, not exclusively academic, therefore there is a scholarship that is right for everyone. Ashley Thompson, Sophomore Communications Management major, says that scholarships either from Saint Leo, or local governments, as she is an international student, has really supported her undergraduate studies. “In relation to students getting money to go to school, they can get local or international scholarships once they meet all of the requirements.” Thompson said. “Scholarships are helpful for those who want to pursue their studies, and it’s really a great opportunity.”
