For Saint Leo University students, autumn is not just the beginning of a new season but a whole series of events that immerse them in an atmosphere of fun and mystery. Every year, the university helps students experience all the delights of fall and enjoy the month of October in anticipation of Halloween.

Every year, the university campus organizes various activities that help students diversify their hardworking lives and take their minds off their studies. Saint Leo organizes themed events for each holiday, and this month, it is time for Halloween activities.

The most common event on campus during the Halloween season is Trick or Treating. At this event, students can enjoy Halloween-themed candy and have a great time. Students can enjoy candy just like they did as kids on Halloween, making the event both exciting and nostalgic.

In 2023 and 2024, Resident Assistants (RAs) organized a Trick or Treat event where students could come and receive a trick-or-treat bag. Students had fun interacting with each other and making new friends.

There are already many different activities planned for Oct. 2025, and you can find more information on the EngageLeo app or on Saint Leo’s Campus Activity Instagram page, @saintleocab. All Halloween-related events will begin to take place actively in the second half of October, so make sure to stay updated!

“There will be many interesting Halloween-themed events soon,” said Tazmyn Sawyer, a junior majoring in Business Administration and an RA of Apartment 4, Floor 5.

Last year was marked by the Spooky Leo Sunset event, which took place on Oct. 30. The participants met the sunset, enjoyed the treats, and created their own Halloween paintings.

Already this month, on Oct. 7, several RAs hosted “Boo Crew Paint and S’mores”, a cozy evening with painting, fragrant marshmallows, and a contest for the “spookiest” painting.

“Our goal was to prepare an event that would remind students that Halloween is coming up. We decided to organize an activity where students could draw a Halloween-themed picture and eat candy,” said Sawyer.

The Dining Hall also takes part in helping make these events happen for students, by organizing a festive dinner on Halloween Eve and decorating the place with creepy and mesmerizing decorations. During this time, students can enjoy Halloween-themed sweets and desserts, including the famous pumpkin pie.

The employees who are part of the Campus Activities Building (CAB) and Residence Life try to come up with unique events every week to help students create a sense of community on campus, take a break from their academic worries, and fully immerse themselves in student life by enjoying holidays, seasons, and cultural events.

This year, one of the main events will be “The Great Pumpkin Bash at Halloween Palooza”, hosted by CAB on Oct. 29. Students can carve and paint pumpkins, enjoy live music, explore an inflatable corn maze, and grab some carnival-style food—all for free. Even though October has only just arrived, the campus of Saint Leo is already preparing for the celebration of Halloween. In a little while, you will notice how the campus transforms with festive decorations and pumpkins adorning the entire area. Even the robots in the engineering room next to Kirk Hall get into the spirit, dressed up for the occasion.

Autumn is a magical time, so do not miss out on celebrating with Saint Leo and all the creepy yet exhilarating events coming up this season!
