Creativity and color at Saint Leo University

On Oct. 4, the Saint Leo University Campus Activities Board (CAB) held the Sunset and Painting event on the Lakeside Patio near the bowl, which always has amazing sunsets. It was a perfect event to talk with new people while eating snacks, listening to music, and of course, painting!

At the event, there was a long table with paints, paintbrushes, canvases, water, and a smaller table with platters of all different types of cheeses, fruit, as well as crackers. There was a stereo playing energetic music such as Taylor Swift and Disney as people painted away to whatever their heart desires.

This event was inviting and welcoming to everyone, whether they wanted to have a quiet night to yourself, they could sit on a lawn chair, paint and watch the sun go down, or if they wanted to talk with others, they could do that too! Everyone did their own thing and had a blast.

Hannah Lynn, a freshman majoring in political science, said, “My favorite part of the event was spending time with my new friends that I have made at Saint Leo.”

People expressed themselves through their own unique paintings. Everyone was their own artist. Some examples of what people painted were paintings of pumpkins, Gilmore Girls quotes for the fall, landscapes of the sunset, and even something as simple as pops of bright colors.

Lynn also said in an eager voice, “Another fun part was painting my fall inspired painting, a Gilmore Girls quote, with a light pink background.”

The weather was a nice cool breeze, the sunset was beautiful, as it went from bright with a yellow tint to it being dark outside. Many people were there from the beginning to the end. This event was a great way to start off the month, especially as we transition into autumn!

Overall, Sunset and Painting was a joy! It was filled with laughs, creativity, friendship, food, and 2010 jams. Students, you are all invited to come to the next Saint Leo CAB event and tell your friends so they can experience the fun too! Make sure to follow the CAB’s Instagram, @saintleocab, to hear about more events. It was a great way to do something outside, admire the view, and fill a canvas with color!
