2020 has brought to us a new year, new opportunities, new experiences, and, more importantly: new upcoming releases in music, film, and entertainment. This year, it’s all about clear vision. It’s important to not lose sight of upcoming trends and what’s creating the “pop” in pop culture. Here’s some insight on what to expect this year that’ll be sure to keep your vision up to date.

  1. BTS and FILA: Stars have crossed borders all over the world and in the music industry; and they will now be stepping foot into athletic wear. BTS is FILA’s new brand ambassadors, and the ad campaign is set to launch in early 2020. The band has gained a large and dedicated fan base in Europe, Asia, and America; therefore, the campaign is sure to cause a global uproar.

  1. Sonic the Hedgehog: Sonic the Hedgehog is the most anticipated film of 2020, but the production process wasn’t as speedy as its main character. The film was initially scheduled to be released in November of 2019; however, due to mass criticism of the first trailer by SEGA fans, mainly with regards to Sonic’s design, the creators delayed the release to improve Sonic’s character. The redraft has garnered positive feedback in the second trailer release, and the film is well in the running to gross high in the box office.

  1. “Circles” Mac Miller: Though he has left us, his music still plays on in our hearts. “Circles” is the final studio album of the late Mac Miller and is set to be a follow up to his album “Swimming.” It will be released posthumously on Jan 17, 2020, with production completed by Jon Brion. Along with its release, there will be pop-up exhibitions held in part with Amazon Music at two Pittsburgh locations the week of the release. Fans will get an intimate listening experience along with access to exclusive “Circles” merchandise.

  1. 2020 Super Bowl: The NFL’s 2020 Super Bowl will be in Miami in February. Halftime Show headliners Shakira and Jennifer Lopez are set to bring more heat than we can handle for the 30-minute extravaganza. The two teased their anticipated performance by posting promotional photos of one another and are promising to deliver a show-stopping performance on one of the world’s biggest stages. Apart from the Halftime Show, nothing adds spice to the Super Bowl like the hilarious commercials that always have people laughing for days on end; therefore, fans can not wait to see what’s in store.

  1. 2020 Oscar Nominations: With the 2020 Oscar Nominations already being released, people are talking about the major snubs and diversity issues among selected directors. This is even sparking the hashtag #OscarsSoMale on social media. Although Akwafina has gotten critical acclaim for her performance in “The Farewell,” her failure to secure a nomination has been deemed the biggest snub by the 2020 Oscar fans. However, Bong Joon Ho’s has earned South Korea its first-ever award nomination, and five more, for his enrapturing film “Parasite.” The award show is sure to be a star-studded event for film and fashion, and fans cannot wait for what may unfold.
