November is a month that has given us turkey and television, and there is no doubt that we are ready to enjoy both their seasons. It is known that food, family, and friends are the key ingredients to an a-maize-ing Thanksgiving holiday, and great television entertainment is just the parsley on the stuffing.
This Thanksgiving season, we’re turning the dial on our ovens and turning the dial on our TV’s to sit back and enjoy all that Thanksgiving television has to offer, and thankfully all the family drama can remain behind the screen.
Feast your eyes on this tasty list baste on the best episodes/moments of Thanksgiving television that we have all come to know and love.
Friends: “The One With All the Thanksgivings.”
When you ask for hilarious television that has graced our TV screens, Friends answers prayers. If your family has a wacky story about one of your holiday experiences, The One With All the Thanksgivings will be sure to resonate with you. The gang reflects on their worst experiences with the holiday in a blast to the past episode that includes Ross with a ridiculous moustache and the unforgettable TV moment where Monica shows up with a turkey on her head in an attempt to cheer up Chandler. How’s that for fowl play?
Will may have spent most of his days on the playground in West Philadelphia, but in the episode “There’s The Rub,” he and Uncle Phil spend most of the day in jail. On this two-part holiday special, Hilary and Carlton volunteer to help out at a homeless shelter, but as expected, Hilary hates the work she has to do, and Carlton is continuously bossed around. They leave the center but return to the shelter after realizing the true spirit of Thanksgiving. Meanwhile, Will’s cure for uncle Phil’s back problems lands them in jail when the parlor turns out to be a sting operation. Uncle Phil defends himself and Will in jail, and like all Thanksgiving miracles, they are released. The Banks then all reconnect and enjoy a heartwarming Thanksgiving dinner.
You may want to use the napkins that you were going to use for your gravy stain to wipe up your tears with this Simpsons episode. The Simpsons gather on Thanksgiving Day, and Lisa shows off her handcrafted cornucopia, but when Bart brings in the turkey, Lisa’s centerpiece ultimately lands in the fireplace. The entire family is outraged at him, and he runs away from home. But, when Bart sees what life is like in the impoverished part of town, he realizes how good he has it at home with his family, he returns home.
No television family defines the meaning of Thanksgiving like the Tanners in this Full House special. It’s the family’s first holiday without Danny’s deceased wife, Pam, and to make matters worse, Danny’s mother Claire is stranded in her home due to a snowstorm. Therefore, it is up to Danny, Jesse, and Joey to ensure that the girls have a good Thanksgiving, but the feast results in a turkey-icicle, a mashed pie, and lots of running emotions, but with love shared between the Tanners, the girls, Danny, Uncle Jesse, and Joey get through it.
