Brunch is probably the best meal idea out there. Who doesn’t love brunch? Being able to have breakfast later in the day without having to wake up early seems like a dream. This lifestyle article will discuss the most popular foods people eat for brunch as well as some unique trends going on in the brunch world!

Getting up late on a Saturday just past noon is perfect considering struggling all week going to long classes Monday through Friday. Not only getting to snooze a little longer but waking up to the most decadent and heart-warming brunch foods is something everyone can appreciate. For me, my absolute favorite item to eat for brunch is homemade French toast with whipped cream and blackberry syrup. I like to have my French toast homemade because first, it’s fresher, plus, you can control how thick you make your French toast. Cooking thick French toast and making it by cutting your own loaf is very convenient. All you have to do is cut the loaf to your desired thickness and dip it in some scrambled egg batter with a mix of cinnamon and nutmeg, and you’re good to go to the skillet! The thick and warm French toast goes perfectly with powdered sugar and sweet blackberry syrup.

Other popular brunch foods in the United States include eggs benedict, skillets (endless varieties), bagels loaded with eggs and bacon, pancakes, hash browns, sausage and pancakes on a stick and many other options! Brunch is known for being easy to make and enjoy. The simplicity is a major factor in why people chose brunch.

One student that attends Saint Leo, Jason Williams, says his favorite meal for brunch is pancakes! While this is simple, it is a tasteful classic none the least! He was stuck between pancakes and French toast. This goes to show that for brunch you don’t always have to go all out with crazy trends.

While there are many classics to brunch, it doesn’t mean you can’t experiment. Here are some different trends found online for what people have been doing with brunch. Hopefully, some of these ideas inspire you to try them the next time you make brunch! One trend that is sure to make your mouth water is bacon and Nutella stuffed French toast! Yes, bacon and Nutella stuffed French toast! Who else could’ve thought of a better combination of words? Not only does this sound delicious, but it is very easy to make with only three ingredients!

Another cool combo is the bacon, egg and cheese “wafflebrown” sandwich. Basically, you take hash browns and make them into waffles with a waffle press. Then you use these “wafflebrowns” as the base for your sandwich and load it up with bacon, sunny side eggs and American cheese. These sound uber delicious and will make you want to make it tonight!

If you don’t feel like making the brunch yourself and you don’t have someone to make it for you, you can always find restaurants locally that offer this prized meal! Near Saint Leo, we have Denny’s that offers breakfast all day affordably! They provide huge portions that you are sure to get your money’s worth. Whenever I go to Denny’s, I get the pancake platter with Cinnabon pancakes. For anyone that has a massive sweet tooth I highly recommend this dish. The pancakes are huge and taste like giant Cinnabon’s with a warm cinnamon crumb topping on top. Instead of syrup, they are slathered with the icing that is usually on Cinnabon rolls! These are to die for and an excellent choice for brunch at any point of the day.

Along with the large pancakes are your choice of meat (sausage patties, sausage links or bacon). All options compliment the sweet pancakes well. You also get eggs however you want them (scrambled, over-easy) and potato hash. The plate is full of both sweet and savory and is perfect for brunch; it is truly decadent. At the Denny’s near school, it costs $6.29 for the two buttermilk pancakes alone and $9.79 for the meal.

Thus, you really can never go wrong with saying yes to brunch! No matter if it’s in the comfort of your house or dorm or even going out to eat, brunch can be enjoyed in any situation. With endless options, you can never run out of new ideas to try and find your new favorite! Hopefully, this article has inspired you to eat brunch sometime in the future and maybe try some of the options listed!
