When does someone asks who your most significant role models are, who do you think of? Some people would say a family member, others might think of a fictional character from their favorite book. But for a lot of people, they would consider celebrities to be some of the most influential people that they can think of to look up to in their lives.
Luckily for celebrities, they have a big enough fan base to where they can make a massive impact on the world’s population in a short amount of time. We see all the time on social media that Selena Gomez donated a large amount of money to a certain organization, or Ashton Kutcher raised awareness for child sex slavery, but recently Lizzo has been all over social media and television channels.
Lizzo has become a relatively new celebrity that has made an enormous impact on so many young girls’ lives, especially when it comes to her image and how she represents herself.
“I believe Lizzo is influential because of her hard work and honesty. She has been on the scene for over a decade before her song ‘Truth Hurts’ blew up due to it being featured in a movie,” said Olivia Callahan, a senior English major.
The celebrity continues to prove her hard work toward success every day.
She is a huge influencer on her social media and in her interviews where she talks about self-love and her views on empowering women.
“You have to find that love for yourself deep down inside, underneath all of that questioning and ickiness,” said Lizzo in an interview with NPR Music on “Fresh Air.”
This is not the first time she has replied with a statement like this. She is regularly communicating her thoughts about feminism and why she supports it, in return, giving females of all shapes and sizes hope for their lives when they stopped believing they were beautiful.
People from all over the world are “feeling good as hell” thanks to Lizzo and her music. The majority of the musician’s music is about feeling good about yourself and self-love, which has brought her many awards. She has performed her music at the American Music Awards, the Grammys, and many more leaving her fans in love with her every time.
Her spunky personality and catchy songs are no secret. Lizzo is determined to make her presence known wherever she goes. She dances to the beat of her own drum and doesn’t let anyone stop her. Her independence has been very influential to both guys and girls throughout her fame, and that is why she is so special.
“Lizzo is unapologetically herself,” said Callahan,“She isn’t what many people would consider traditionally beautiful, but she recognizes her unique beauty and flaunts it.”
A lot of young adults would consider Lizzo to be an influential person in their lives. Who would you consider your most influential person to be?
