“When We First Met” is a Netflix original movie; the romantic comedy stars Adam DeVine and Alexandra Daddario.

Adam DeVine plays the film’s lead character, Noah, and best friend to Daddario’s character, Avery; on-screen the two share many great memories with each other. The Netflix original has a similar plot to “Groundhog Day” (1993), where the lead character relives the same day over and over until he makes the right decisions.

The pair’s best memory is the very first night they met at a Halloween party. That night Noah fell madly in love with Avery after they spent the perfect night together. Noah loved that she was wearing a costume from “A League of Their Own,” knew a lot about jazz music, played foosball, and enjoyed taking pictures in photo booths.

Throughout the film, Noah uses the photo booth he and Avery used the night they met to go back in time to meet her over and over. However, he runs into issues when he makes different choices.

These different choices make it so that he sees what it is like if they get married and Noah gets a high-level business job, if they never become friends, and several other scenarios.

Noah’s character development is very prevalent throughout the story, overall adding to the ending. Noah begins the film as an insecure piano player, pining over his best friend. He is very confused as to how he got friend zoned so quickly, and why Avery doesn’t love him. However, as he discovers different outcomes due to his actions, he realizes that no matter what he does he will be able to go back in time to change it. So, he decides to explore different versions of himself to get Avery to end up feeling the same way about him.

There are minor characters that help tell the story, and they are no exception when it comes to delivering comedic lines. Avery and Noah each have a best friend, with both of them being essential to the story the film tells. No matter what scenario Noah gets himself into, he always goes back to needing his best friend for guidance.

There is not a dull moment due to the comedy delivered by Adam DeVine; he hits the mark with his comedic comments every time, leaving the audience in stitches.

The movie attempts to elicit sympathy for DeVine’s character as he is set out on his self-mission to get a fairy tale ending, with none of the endings working out in his favor. The movie does this very well and allows the film to sail smoothly. It is a very easy watch, yet captivates the viewer’s attention with the twists and turns.

The film was fast-paced with perfect on-screen chemistry between the whole cast. There was an obvious love of friendship between everyone, which helped create an A+ film.

Ultimately, if a viewer has a free night and is in the mood to laugh, she or he should go over to Netflix and watch the film. This film is a must-watch Netflix original.
