Leo Love Week, one of the busiest weeks on the Campus Activities Board’s calander, has officially wrapped up. After hosting events like “A Night on Love Lane” and “Wax Dipped Flowers,” CAB completed the school week’s events with a Roller Rink Party on Feb. 16 in the SCC boardrooms.

The event was specially designed with the sole purpose of entertaining the Lion Community. After a long week of studies and class, students needed an activity to cool off their brains and the Roller Rink Party provided that feeling of relaxation that was greatly needed. The students would gather on a makeshift mat recalling real roller rinks arcades and try to keep their balance.

Morgan Wagner, a junior majoring in Hospitality and Tourism and a member of the Student Government Union and Campus Activities Board, was the one to book the event on the suggestion of CAB. She was thrilled by the large turnout.

“About a 100 people attended,” recalled Wagner.

Some of the students that already knew how to skate would roll up and down the floor like they were born to do this activity. Others would just wave their arms awkwardly in a windmilling motion before falling flat, all the while sharing laughter with each other. At some point, it seemed like it was a competition to see who would fall down the most.

Zach McKenzie, freshman majoring in cyber security, really enjoyed the event. As he caught his breath he managed to qualify his time attending the program as “a real nice experience.”

“I had a lot of fun, and have not roller bladed in a while,” said McKenzie, who was among those that would more or less keep their balance to avoid falling on the mat.

Victoria Smith, a freshman majoring in biomedical and health science, also appreciated the event. Originally from Indiana, Victoria counted skating as a recurring activity that reminded her of home.

“It definitely brings a piece of home back to the school,” Smith recalled.

Having been really popular in the past, students do hope to see another Roller Rink Party in the near future. Once again, the Campus Activities Board has demonstrated that they are really serious in their mission to bring entertainment to the Saint Leo community
