Jailene Jeantilus, Sophomore Criminal Justice: Criminalistics major, sat with the Lion’s Pride Newspaper  and talked about his Candidacy in the Student Government Election.

What experience do you have which makes you qualified for the position you’re running for and a better choice than your opponent(s)?

I have experience in communication management currently being a Senator in the Student Government Union and standing as the representing liaison of the environmental committee within SGU. I have also taken on the position of the Secretary for the Slam Poetry Club from 2016 – current which one of my many duties are to stand as the point of communication between the club’s members and executive board. In my previous years, I have also been granted the opportunity to work with environmentally friendly entrepreneurs at Ecotech Vision in Miami, FL holding a Social Chair intern position for one of their very own rising entrepreneurs. I would find myself a better choice than my opponents solely because of my sophisticated organization skills, developed leadership qualifications, and my determination.

Why do you want this position and what/who inspired or motivated you to run?

My inquiry for the position of Vice President of Communication Management came about when I had ideas for change on Saint Leo University’s campus. After joining Student Government Union’s Senators, I yearned to make a greater impact on Saint Leo’s student body and the organizations on campus when I suddenly reminisced on Mahatma Gandhi’s famous quote, “be the change you want to see in the world.”

What do you hope to accomplish and how do you plan to accomplish these goals in your position?

I am determined to accomplish my goal of enhancing the social encounters amongst all of the organizations on campus and implementing the current source of communication between the organizations.

What would your first action in office be, if you are elected?

My first action in office, if I am elected, would be to revise the points of communication between organizations here on Saint Leo University’s campus.
