If you’re staying at Saint Leo University over spring break, you don’t want to be stuck in your dorm room all week long. There are so many places around campus that you can go that are exciting, and you will have a blast.

Spring break is meant for relaxation, and a break from all the studying students have been doing all semester long. So, go check these places out.

To begin, only eight minutes away from Saint Leo is the Mirada Lagoon. It is an island, with a beautiful huge lagoon. There are slides, food trucks with delicious treats, and even a challenging obstacle course in the water. There are paddle boards, kayaks to use in the lagoon, and a grass area to play Connect 4, games, or to even just to sit and relax. It is only 15-20 dollars to spend the entire day there. It is a great way to escape and enjoy the sunny weather.

Moving forward, if you are looking to shop around town, there are boutiques, unique gift shops, and more. They are everywhere, only 5-10 minutes away from Saint Leo. These include San Antonio Pottery, Thaila’s Antiques, and so much more. Go have a day to yourself or with friends, have fun, and explore.

You can always make a day out of something. Be creative! You can go to the park and read, go to the Grotto, relax by the Wellness Center pool, go for a drive listening to music, take a walk, or watch the sunset.

“My favorite place to go to is the beach and the outlet mall,” said Emily Vandercar, a freshman majoring in criminal justice.

The Grove is a popular place to go, and it is only 20 minutes away from school. It is filled with colorful “Krates” that are stores, such as boutiques and cute shops. There are creative restaurants that have amazing coffee, freeze-dried ice cream, and even a French fry factory.

freshman majoring in nursing, Dylen Ware, says her favorite boba place is Yozi cafe in Zephyrhills.

“I also love Hyde Park Cafe” Ware said excitedly.

If you are looking to go a little farther, Hyde Park is around 35-40 minutes away. There is a lot of shopping you can do there, and plenty of restaurants and desserts!

But Ware’s favorite is only 15 minutes away. “Yozi Cafe” has frozen yogurt, boba tea, and smoothies. It is delicious, and worth a try over spring break.

Grab your friends, and relax, try out these exciting places, and have a blast during spring break.
