It is commonly known that February is the month of love, but it also is the month of a very different, but no less important, sort of love—National Library Lovers Month! In today’s fast paced world, let’s face it—libraries are overlooked. People seem to care less and less about books and more and more about, well, anything else.
It is a truth universally acknowledged that students love fuzzy cuddles and taking pictures with cute animals. However, when Saint Leo University students met an assortment of friendly alpacas on Feb. 13, they had no idea that the encounter was made possible by a relationship formed through the Wellness Center community.
While many Saint Leo University students looked forward to the weekend as an opportunity to catch up on homework or to prepare for the Super Bowl, one group of students decided to dedicate the weekend to prayer and spiritual growth.
The last time different Saint Leo athletic teams came together at the University Turf Stadium was for the traditional “Welcome Back” event in 2021 to elect the “best” Lions team. But on Monday, Feb. 6, at 8 pm, the Lions met again and had a mental-health awareness discussion, mixing various fun and competitive games at the lacrosse turf.
The stage is set for Super Bowl 57. The run-heavy Philadelphia Eagles are squaring off against the high-flying offense of the Kansas City Chiefs on Feb. 12 at 6:30 pm. The Eagles had no trouble getting to the Super Bowl this postseason as they blew their competition out of the water beating the New York Giants 38-7 and the San Francisco 49ers 31-7.

As we crawl closer to Feb. 14, the closer we are to bitter singletons saying things like ‘Valentine’s Day is overrated’ or ‘love isn’t real’. But is that really the truth? Is Valentine’s Day a shallow, consumerism-driven holiday filled with nothing but candy and cookie-cutter, pre-packaged and disposable displays of love?
Every Feb. 14, love is in the air, and most of the time it is shown in the form of gifts. Most people spend a lot of money trying to buy the perfect gift even if they cannot afford it. However, Valentine’s gifts do not have to be wasteful nor expensive. There are many ways to show your love without overspending.
Inside TECO Hall, groups gathered to hear from the mayor of the town of St. Leo, Vincent D’Ambrosio. The purpose of the town hall meeting, which was organized by Saint Leo University’s Student Government Union (SGU), was to discuss the identity of the town of St. Leo.
