SGU position you applied for: President

What experience do you have which makes you qualified for the position you’re running for and a better choice than your opponent(s)?

For the past year, I have served on the Student Government Union Executive Board. I am the current Vice President of Activities. I have had the opportunity of overseeing the Campus Activities Board throughout the time in my position. The skills that I have been able to acquire are what qualify me to run for President.

Why do you want this position and what/who inspired or motivated you to run?

The person that has inspired me to run is Joseph Thompson III, who is the current President. I have known Joseph Thompson since before I came to Saint Leo University. It was his first year as the Vice President of Activities. He motivated me to be the person that I am today. Because of Joe’s persistence, I now have the confidence to run for President. He has done so much for University, and I hope to follow that path.

What do you hope to accomplish and how do you plan to accomplish these goals in your position?

There are a few things that I hope to accomplish in my future position. My goal is for growth on the Student Government Union Executive Board to continue just as the current SGU Board would have wanted it. A couple of things that the Student Government Union has been working on is the food pantry and the student relief fund. I promise to make those initiatives better for the student population.

What would your first action in office be, if you are elected?

My first action in office would be to try to gain as much knowledge from Joe before he graduates. He has been on the Student Government Union Executive Board for three years. I know that he has so much to pass down to the next President.
