Every semester, Saint Leo puts on the Involvement Fair, a great way to get students aware of the different clubs and organizations on campus. This year’s event was held on Jan. 19 outside of the SAB. The fair is ideal for students who want to be involved during their time in college. The Saint Leo Lions’ swimming team had a great week as both sophomore Matija Rafaj and senior Natalia Garriock were named Sunshine State Conference Male and Female Swimmers of the Week for the week of Jan. 22-28. This was Rafaj’s first and Garriock’s third time winning the award this season. Rafaj joins teammates sophomore Henrik Dahrendorff (Dec. 20) and freshman Georgios Veliadis (Jan. 22) as the only male swimmers to win the award for the Lions this season. For those that have been searching for a new fast-paced crime drama, combined with the styles of Victorian England and the New York Gilded Age, that case has now been solved. On Monday, Jan. 22, “The Alienist” premiered on TNT, a network known for its drama-filled shows such as “Rizzoli and Isles,” “Dallas” (the revival of the beloved CBS show), and “The Closer.” This limited series TV show is based on Caleb Carr’s book by the same name first published in 1994. “Insidious: The Last Key” stars Lin Shaye as she reprises her role as Elsie Rainier, a paranormal investigator, and parapsychologist of a unique ability that allows her to resist demonic forces. January is Cervical Cancer Awareness Month. Throughout the month, many organizations around the world help raise awareness for the cause. The National Cervical Cancer Coalition, NCCC, make it their mission to spread the word across the United States about cervical cancer, especially the importance of detecting it. NCCC provides many resources to educate those who are unfamiliar with this type of cancer. According to Women’s Health, it is recommended to get a vaccination for human papillomavirus (HPV) because many cervical cancer cases are caused due to a woman contracting the infection. What many would have probably viewed as the second coming was a just a flash a light over Detroit night light. A meteor, formally known as a shooting start or fireball, descended in the Earth’s atmosphere making it visible in the Detroit night sky. On Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2018 at approximately 8:09 pm, people in Ontario, Canada, Michigan and Ohio saw a streak of brightly coloured light illuminating the night sky.
