You’re browsing through the convenient store looking for a cold, sweet and healthy drink to satisfy your thirst. Vitamin water appears to be triumphant against sugary drinks like soda, and juices from concentrate. It’s got electrolytes, vitamins and a wide variety of yummy fruit flavors. However, it’s not very far off from the other sugary drinks. It’s got almost as much calories and contain an even worse processed sugar called crystalline fructose. It is even more processed than high fructose corn syrup, which is found in sodas and other sugary drinks. The best way to not only quench your thirst but cleanse your body is with healthy vitamin water made from fresh seasonal fruit and vitamins found in your local drugstore. Not only is it healthier, but it’s much cheaper too! Mix up these yummy recipes and the next day pour it in your water bottle for vitamin water on the go!

Spring Cleaning Detox Water

Purify your blood and body with this delicious vitamin water recipe. If you’re feeling sluggish, fatigued, and bloated or have been struggling with skin problems recently, this recipe will steer your body back in the right direction. The combination of fruits, veggies and vitamins help in removing impurities from the blood through the liver, kidneys, intestines and aid to skin care.

You will need:

  • 1 cup of coconut water
  • ½ cup of coconut meat
  • ¼ cucumber (sliced)
  • ½ cup of raspberries
  • ½ cup of blueberries
  • 5-10 drops of milk thistle extract
  • 1 liter glass of cold purified water
  • Mason jar or pitcher
  • Small bowl
  • Spoon
  • Knife

 

Start by muddling the raspberries and blueberries together in a small bowl with a spoon. This refers to mashing them just enough to get the juices out, but not so much that they completely lose their shape. Then slice the cucumber thinly. Combine coconut water, coconut meat, 5-10 drop of milk thistle extract, raspberries, blueberries, cucumber and purified water in a Mason jar or pitcher and mix. Leave in the fridge for 12-24 hours before drinking. The vitamin water should last in the fridge for approximately 5 days.- give or take.

 

B Happy Vitamin Water

This recipe is focused mostly on vitamin B complex which is composed of 8 different B vitamins. These 8 vitamins are needed to help our body carry out vital functions. This is only made with fresh fruit and no added supplements. All the vitamins come naturally from the fruit.  Here is a list of some specific vitamins found in the drink:

  • Thiamine (B1) – helps to generate energy from carbohydrates. Also helps with DNA and RNA production, and nerve function.
  • Riboflavin (B2) – helps with growth, red cell production and releasing energy from carbohydrates.
  • Niacin (B3) – helps keep the digestive system on track, as well as improve skin and nerve cells.
  • Pyridoxine (B6) – helps produce antibodies to keep your immune system strong and help in red blood cell production. Also helps with breaking down protein.
  • Pantothenic acid (B5) – helps maintain good health in your digestive system and converts food to energy. This vitamin plays a huge role in metabolism.

 

You will need:

 

  • 1 sliced lemon (B2 vitamin)
  • 1 peach  (B3 vitamin)
  • Handful of raspberries (B5 vitamin)
  • 5 or chunks of watermelon and pineapple (B6)
  • 1 sprig of rosemary (B1 vitamin)
  • Mason jar or pitcher
  • 1 liter glass of cold purified water
  • knife

 

Cut up the fruit into equal sized chunks and place in a Mason jar or pitcher. Then add rosemary sprig. Fill the container with cold purified water and allow the mixture to stew in the fridge for 12-24 hours, just as before.

C It to Believe It Vitamin Water

This vitamin water gives a boost to your immune system by focusing on Vitamin C. With all the new flowers blooming, and pollen making an appearance this spring, those with allergies could really benefit from this vitamin water. It boosts your immune system and helps fight your allergies. It can cleanse your body as well and helps with weight loss. You have to see how much better you feel to believe it!

You will need:

  • 1 grapefruit
  • ½ a lemon (thinly sliced)
  • ½ a lime (thinly sliced)
  • ½ a medium orange (thinly sliced)
  • 5-7 kumquats (halved)
  • Camu camu berry powder
  • A pinch of sea salt
  • 1 liter glass of cold purified water
  • Knife

Cut the grapefruit in half, juice one half and add to a pitcher or Mason jar filled with purified water and mix. Then add camu camu berry powder, sea salt, and the rest of the sliced fruit and allow the mixture to infuse in the fridge for 12 to 24 hours.
