“I think medieval weapons are awesome. They are so eye-popping and very intense, thrilling weapons, “said Senior Kara Geigle.
We dare not dwell on the past because we are taught that it’s the future that matters. However, extreme armaments of the past, such as weapons that were used by knights, are increasingly interesting to those who begin to learn about them. The weapons that are associated with this extremely violent time are often looked at with profound shock as they look like they were used for torture. These possible torture weapons have long been locked up for safe keeping and rightfully so.
“Medieval weapons are the best! They were crafted with the knowledge of how to destroy!” said Sophomore Eric Podolski.
People begin to look at these heavy brutal weapons with awe as they learn knights and warriors of the past fought and won many battles with them. One can imagine the infamous swords and war hammers that are often found in museums, but they are not the only medieval weapons found on the ‘Most Common’ lists. Medieval swords, flails, axes, war hammers, and spears are the most common weapons that the great knights of the past used to bring justice to their enemies. These weapons are indeed crafted to destroy enemies as they were made to be heavy, hard, and very sharp in order to be brutal and unforgiving. The nature of these weapons intrigues most individuals as they are so extreme. Their spiky and scary qualities draw in the interest of individuals as they imagine how these weapons are wielded.
“They are so interesting to read about! I think they were wielded with great strength by huge powerful knights and warriors, “said freshman Risa Lin.
Many people wonder what the true use of these weapons really was. At museums, many people ask experts if they were used for torture as well as for combat. While a wild mind can imagine the brutality that may have taken place, experts will point to the true torture weapons. For example, horrifying torture devices are the Judas Cradle, Brazen Bull, Scold’s Bridle, Spike chairs, Saws, and the Iron Maiden. These are all too horrifying weapons and have been locked up tight in museums and only shown as artifacts.
“I think they are scary and interesting. I am glad they are locked up in museums.” said freshman Angelica Rivera.
As most things from the past are locked up tight, so are all the infamous medieval weapons. One can find just about any one of the most common weapons in museums all around the world. It is no secret that the past was violent and brutal, especially the unforgiving weapons of the medieval times.
