Zooeyia: Animal companions and mental health

On April 18, students at Saint Leo’s University Main Campus enjoyed the company of many different animals during “Zooeyia,” an event sponsored by the College of Education and Social Services. From 11:30 am to 2:00 pm, attendees interacted with various animals located in different spots across campus.

World Malaria Day

Malaria is a parasitic disease transmitted through mosquito bites by mosquitoes that have been infected by a species of the malaria parasite. Malaria is prevalent in tropical and subtropical climates, most notably in the continent of Africa in the Sub-Saharan region. However, this disease is not only limited to such areas of the world.

Sigma Tau Delta hosts yard sale to support Ukraine

On April 22, Sigma Tau Delta hosted a yard sale to support Ukrainian refugees in Poland. The week leading up to the event, students were encouraged to drop off gently used items such as books, glassware, and clothing. An art station was set up where students could decorate shirts and finger paint with the blue and yellow of the Ukrainian flag. The event’s profits will go towards the Red Cross and Wyższa Szkoła Humanitas, a Polish university dedicated to helping Ukrainian refugees. The Humanitas Foundation allocates funds for people escaping the war in Ukraine and seeking shelter within the university.

Women’s Month: Seminole Women in Florida

Appreciation and recognition must be shown to the Seminole women of Florida. The Seminoles migrated to Florida in the 18th century and are still around today. Seeing that they are a small percentage of the overall Florida population, they often time get lack of recognition.
