Saint Leo Men’s Soccer Lose a Close One in Overtime.

Saint Leo men’s soccer played a tough home game against Lynn University Saturday, Oct. 6. Saint Leo took 13 shots, placed two on net while Lynn took 17 shots and had five landing on net. The Fighting Knights had the advantage over the Lions in corner kicks with six compared to their three. In goal, Christian Evans earned three saves in 105 minutes.

Just like most games, this one was a nail-biter that went down to the wire, where the team who makes one play takes the cake. The early goal for Lynn came from Max Herbert and Bruno Sanitz who scored with a header. The Lions were down most of the game and then in the 84th-minute graduate student Elias Niesigk scored an equalizing goal to force the game into overtime.

Once in overtime, Lynn came out with the win with a penalty kick at the 104-minute marker. The Lions look to end this losing streak as they travel to Flagler Wednesday, Oct. 10 for a non-conference game against the Saints at 7 p.m.
