The beginning of a new year is a chance for new challenges and goals paired with motivation to be better than the year before. This mindset especially applies to the student-athletes at Saint Leo University, who accomplished great things last year and want to proceed to do that with their team this Spring semester. The athletic teams strive to be at the top throughout all NCAA Division II programs.
Dear college student, It is January 1. You roll over in bed and stare into your phone screen for the first time today. Immediately, you are confronted with video after video, photo after photo, with the following captions:

Saint Leo University sent a mass email to all students on Dec. 9, informing them the unlimited meal plan will be discontinued for the 2023-2024 academic year and that the university “will now offer weekly 19-, ten-, and five-meal plans for resident students.” However, Lions living in dorms without a kitchen must purchase the 19-meal plan. Furthermore, the email stated that meal plans for students and commuters will cost an additional 6.67 percent on average.
Students or staff at Saint Leo University might have spotted a pretty fast runner passing them while he was practicing on campus. Some might have thought it was Speedy Gonzales running past them – however, it was a motivated runner from France who is striving toward success.
Even though Pelé is not a physical part of this world anymore, his name and his accomplishments will be well remembered for a long time.
The Brazilian national team, nicknamed Seleção Canarinho (“Canary Squad”, after their bright yellow jersey), is the most successful national team in the history of world soccer. The Brazilian team was formed in 1914 with teams from the cities Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo.
A remarkable fact is that the newer generations love to attach a label to things. With the woke culture movement, it would not be different. In the past 10 years, the world has been attached to the idea of awareness of social issues and injustices. Although the first use of the word “woke” started popping up in the 1940s, currently, it has been used to talk about several underprivileged groups and has evolved into something much bigger.
On Dec. 12, the ENG202 students hosted a class reading entitled “Our Minutes Hasten to Their End.” Everyone was invited, including family, friends, classmates, and staff.
As the violinists perform their introductory songs and the audience is settling in, behind the scenes, there is a buzz going on in the room next to the Black Box Theatre. The singers are prepping for their last big Christmas concert of the season, filled with classical Christmas songs and beautiful music from the orchestra.
