For the first time since the 2007-2008 season, Jaromir Jagr will be playing in the NHL returning from his three-year stint in Russia (KHL). Jagr joins a new looking Philadelphia Flyers team that has burst into the spotlight early in the season. Coming into the past offseason, Jagr informed his agent Petr Svoboda that he wanted to return to the NHL.
In the 2008-2009 season when the Detroit Lions went 0-16 for the regular season, all hope was lost. At that time fans had to hide their faces in shame. But then in the next year’s NFL Draft they drafted overall number 1 pick Matthew Stafford, a Quarterback from the University of Georgia. Since being in the league Stafford has had a problem staying healthy but has shown glimpses of greatness. From the moment he had been set for rehab, Stafford went hard at 110 percent. He wanted to be the player he knew he was capable and help the Lions win and go to the playoffs.

The Florida Republican Party has decided that they will move their 2012 presidential primary on Jan. 31 ahead of the Iowa primary, which is traditionally one of the first in the nation. This was followed up by Nevada declaring their primary for Jan. 14, as well as South Carolina rescheduling for Jan. 21, throwing the Republican Party into complete disarray.

October is a month full of pumpkins, fall colors, wishful thoughts of cooler weather, and also awareness. October is Disability Awareness Month and this is a month that Saint Leo fully participates in, in order to broaden college student’s knowledge of a variety of disabilities.
Ten years ago, 24 year old University Of West Florida senior Eric Smallridge left a bar where he had been watching a favorite band with some friends. Smallridge was drinking beer, but like other times, he did a self-sobriety field test by standing on one leg and putting his index finger on his nose and felt he was sober enough to drive. While driving home, a white car in the right lane that was ending cut into his lane. Smallridge swerved his truck into the left lane in order to avoid a collision with the white car, but ended up hitting another car in which two college girls were riding. Their car spun out of control and hit a tree. The impact killed the girls.
