Your college graduation day usually comes just once in a lifetime. It’s the day you’ve imagined ever since you first stepped onto campus. It’s the reason you chose to pursue a degree—to reach that milestone. Graduation Day is the moment that reflects your major achievement.

It’s a day to take pride in your journey. A day that highlights all the steps you took and the skills you developed to reach where you are today.

So why skip a day that’s dedicated to celebrating your success?

A graduation ceremony isn’t just about recognizing your accomplishments and the hard work you put into earning your degree; it’s also a time to share with the friends you’ve made and the people who have impacted your life along the way.

This day should be about you—a moment for reflection and a beautiful memory to keep with you forever. Walking across that stage marks the end of one chapter and the exciting start of the next.

If you’re tempted to skip this important day and just have your diploma mailed to you, consider what you’ll be missing.

If you think it’s not worth attending, do it anyway—for yourself.

We all deserve to be proud of ourselves, and walking across the stage gives you the chance to not only show others, but also show yourself that you did it.

“Attending your college graduation is a milestone moment. It’s a chance to show off your hard work to peers and your family and celebrate your accomplishments,” said Maddie Melendez, a senior majoring in criminal justice with a homeland security specialization.

Graduation day also serves as a tribute to those who sacrificed and supported us along the way.

“As someone who is a first-generation college student, I will be attending my graduation and giving thanks to my mother who helped me get here and showed me the importance of gaining an education,” said Melendez.

Get excited for this day. Pick out a special outfit, plan your hairstyle, and send out invitations to your closest friends and family. Make the decision to celebrate you.

If you go, you won’t miss a thing. But if you don’t, you might spend the rest of your life wishing you had.

It’s the last chance to create a college memory, so gather with your closest friends and make this moment count.
