Feb. 4 marks World Cancer Day, a global effort to raise awareness and support the fight against cancer. The day was established in 2000 at the World Cancer Summit in Paris.

Cancer is a life-threatening disease that affects people of all ages. World Cancer Day serves as a reminder to raise awareness for adults, children, and infants battling the disease.

According to the Career Research Institute, World Cancer Day is a “day to highlight the success stories, the lives saved, and the breakthroughs that have improved the quality of life for patients worldwide.” It honors those who have defeated cancer and serves as a reminder to support those currently battling the disease, keeping them in our prayers and spreading awareness.

People with cancer fight every day, showing remarkable strength, bravery, and courage.

If you want to assist, there are many ways you can lend a helping hand to cancer patients.

To start, there are numerous donation pages where even five dollars can make a meaningful impact. Every cent counts!

If you know someone with cancer, consider making a gift basket filled with thoughtful items. You could include hobbies they enjoy, books, favorite snacks, drinks, and more. A small, personal gesture can brighten their day and show them love and support.

While we may not be able to help as much as doctors, we can still show kindness and support. Share donation links on social media, raise funds for cancer patients, or even create handmade cards to donate to your local hospital. Every act of kindness counts.

A great way to help is by spreading the word about World Cancer Day to your family and friends.

Share the stories of cancer survivors, donate if you can, and together, we can make a difference.
