Andrew Wiggins: The Rising of a Star

With the first pick in the 2014 NBA Draft, the Cleveland Cavaliers selected Andrew Wiggins. After a very convincing off-season playing for the Cavaliers, he was traded to the Minnesota Timberwolves in a deal including Kevin Love.

David Ortiz Inducted into MLB Hall of Fame

On Jan. 25, David Ortiz of the Boston Red Sox was the only player voted into the Hall of Fame by the Baseball Writers’ Association of America. The affectionately nicknamed “Big Papi” was voted in by a jaw-dropping 77.9% of all ballots. Other baseball legends such as Barry Bonds and Roger Clemens reached results of just 66% 65.2%, respectively.

Track Season starts off from Appalachian

Spring semester is when the track season starts, both men’s and women’s teams have come back strong. Starting with four golds and two silvers in the Appalachian State Invites on Jan. 29, two of our long rally players won first place in their games.

The Golfing Dutchman

Many will probably connect the word “Dutchman” with the legendary ship of the movie “Pirates of the Caribbean” starring Jonny Depp and Orlando Bloom, or others could associate the word with the opera “Flying Dutchman” from Richard Wagner and captain Bernard Fokke. But, at Saint Leo University, the expression “Dutchman” brings to mind student athlete Bas Vermeulen.
