Rayonia Slater, Sophomore Biology: Biomedical and Health Sciences major, sat with the Lion’s Pride Newspaper  and talked about his Candidacy in the Student Government Election.

What experience do you have which makes you qualified for the position you’re running for and a better choice than your opponent(s)?

Treasurer of Year Group 2012-2015, Treasurer of Youth Group at church 2010-2016, President of Youth Sunday School 2014-2016, Treasurer of Intercultural Students’ Association 2016-present, and Manager’s Assistant at Life Insurance Group.

Why do you want this position and what/who inspired or motivated you to run?

It has always been my passion to give back to my community and I believe this is one of the most unique ways to do so. With my skills and qualifications along with the diversity of the members of SGU, I believe it can achieve optimum accomplishments.

What do you hope to accomplish and how do you plan to accomplish these goals in your position?

I hope to emphasize and provide informational sessions to all clubs and organizations on campus and the e-board, or their treasurers, and on all the guidelines and phases that must be adhered to for efficient and successful transactions.

What would your first action in office be, if you are elected?

Informational sessions with the treasurer of every club/organization on campus to discuss and make known the guidelines that must be adhered to and the policies in place. Initiate a strategy for a smoother transaction of allocations.
