Spring is often associated with perfect weather and outdoor activities. At Saint Leo University, the Campus Activities Board and the Student Government organize a festival to foster connections among students.

The Spring Fling, held on March 24, at the Bowl behind the Student Activities Building, offered students the chance to engage in a variety of outdoor activities and savor delicious treats. The event aimed to encourage students to take a break from their hectic schedules, have fun outdoors, and appreciate the campus environment.

“I needed a break from all the stress of school,” expressed Malina Shrestha, a freshman majoring in social work. “This event was a great way to reconnect with my friends and to get my much-needed vitamin D from the sun.”

The goal of the festival was delivered, based on the positive review of students.

Savannah Rowells, a freshman majoring in pre-medicine said, “I enjoyed the activities including flying kites and picking out succulents and my favorite part was eating the popsicles on a spring day.”

Another student, Deja Lundy, a sophomore majoring in biomedical and health sciences, also commented how the “popsicles were the best because they tasted homemade.”

Alongside the food, the spring fling featured numerous outdoor activities. These included a water slide, where participants slid down and concluded the experience with a splash. Additionally, attendees could partake in a blow-up obstacle course, where pairs competed for victory.

“The obstacle course was a great way to encourage competition between friends,” said Brennan Roohan, a sophomore majoring in marketing.

Overall, the spring fling was a great hit because it is a way for students to get out of their dorms and enjoy the sunshine.
