This semester, our campus held the Student Government Union (SGU) elections and the newly elected 2025-2026 Executive Board have been chosen and are ready to step into their roles and serve the student body.

This election season, positions for SGU’s Executive Board included President and Vice President roles. Candidates campaigned creatively through social media, advertisements, and more. In the end, five were elected to lead.

“I knew I wanted to bring real change and transparency to how student funds are handled, but seeing the support from my peers made me realize just how much trust they were placing in me. It wasn’t just a personal achievement—it was a call to action,” said Wilson. (Photo was contributed by Dejuan Wilson)

Elected as our SGU President was Luigi Santo Meschino, a junior political science major with a minor in American politics.

“Key factors in our victory include my hard work as Vice President of Operations, where I’ve spent two years building a proven track record,” said Meschino. “I effectively connected with the student body through a strong social media strategy and open conversation during tabling and encouraged discussions about my plans.”

Meschino also shared his top priorities for his first year in the role and how he plans to accomplish them.

“Our platform, “Team Meschino,” aimed to unite students for a better Saint Leo. Key points included empowering clubs and organizations, enhancing students’ activity and more.” stated Meschino. “Although we can’t achieve everything in one semester, it’s crucial to envision what the future can bring.”

Before his presidency begins, Meschino was able to share a message with students.

“I want to thank the students from the bottom of my heart for this opportunity to serve and to be there for them every step of the way,” stated Meschino. “They will always have our support; we will always advocate for them.”

The Vice President of Operations role went to Hunter Compton, a sophomore in political science with a legal studies minor. He was able to share how he felt after gaining the position.

“When I learned that I had officially won the position it felt surreal,” said Compton.

“The strategies I plan on implementing are all driven by data and analytics. In terms of projects and initiatives, I will be working with our VP of Relations to do several events that would involve collaboration with other organizations,” stated Compton as he discusses his plans for next year.

Elected as our Vice President of Relations was Khristian Parrish, a second year MBA.

“My plan is simple: be there on campus. Honestly our biggest SGU issue is being very siloed off and focused on internal improvements,” stated Parrish. “I want to change that by showing up to club and [organization]meetings and more, along with just learning and listening to student needs.”

“I am excited and determined to take on this new role and ensure that SGU continues to take actions that matter,” concluded Parrish as he shares a message to the students.

The fourth candidate elected was Dejuan Wilson, a sophomore majoring in biomedical and health sciences and the Re-elected Vice President of Finance. When discussing the future, this is what Wilson had to share.

“One of my biggest priorities is making sure students feel confident in where their money is going. I want to introduce clear financial reports that break down our spending in a way that’s easy to understand,” explained Wilson. “I also hope to implement new funding opportunities for all.”

“To the students, thank you for believing in me and for giving me the opportunity to serve you. I promise to approach this role with integrity, transparency, and a commitment to making sure every dollar is working in your best interest,” stated Wilson, addressing those who voted for him.

The final candidate was Beau Wolfe, a sophomore accounting major, who was elected as the Vice President of Communications.

“I think the biggest takeaways of this election is that you need to put yourself out there and be a friendly face,” said Wolfe as he reflected on the elections. “Also, it’s very important to table, to let people know what your platform is, what you have to offer.”

“My strategy is solely based upon and building off what we already have social media wise, by providing more specific and more frequent Senate updates.” stated Wolfie as he shares his future plans. “A key word that I like to use is involvement. So, the committee and I will encourage going to different events and clubs to engages with them.”

Let us all welcome our new SGU Executive Board members for next year, as they are ready and eager to serve our campus.
