Despite only a week passing since the most recent Student Government Executive Board elections, the newest members have already begun putting in the work. President-Elect Celine-Deon Palmer expressed her gratitude to those who supported her while expressing her eagerness to begin the work that has been cut off for her.

Palmer stated, “Since my win, I have continued to serve in my duties as Vice President of Operations, as well as very excited to share in the responsibilities of our current President Derick McIntosh.”

Palmer continued speaking of her activity post-election, “My interactions with the student population have increased, because after campaigning a few people have started being more engaged in Student Government and are more vocal about their concerns.“ Palmer is committed to the platform she campaigned on that led to her success stating, “As I aimed to be transparent this year as Vice President of Operations, that will increase as President so I can keep the students ‘in the know’ regarding the progress of each project and steps to take to stay on track, so that they can be continued after I am gone.”

These sentiments are not analogous to Palmer; Ryan Roper, Vice President-elect of Finance stated, “I have been working with Kristy, the current Vice President, on understanding the position in a more personal way. Such like the office hours, and that tasks that I will be assigned to when I am actually doing the VPF work. I have also been communicating with other E-board members about ways my position affects their positions.” Roper was also appreciative of the support he received from the Saint Leo community, stating that he would ensure the students’ finances would be hired with pride.

As most of the board members already hold several positions within the community, there will undoubtedly be a lot of time management skills being practiced to juggle their various tasks.

Geshon Pratt Vice President- elect for Communications stated that since the election he has been taking the time to plan for the upcoming academic year while gaining the full exposure of the role he will take on.

Maurquise McGill Vice President-elect for Activities, says his focus will specifically be on soliciting freshmen involvement in the new academic year and fostering team spirit. At present McGill is working with the current VPA along with the Director of Activities on applications for the new Campus Activity Board (CAB) Executive Board.

Additionally, Vice President- elect for Operations Giulia Gourgue was elated finding out the results for the election stating, “This was a tough election with many candidates, so I am very grateful for this opportunity.”

Gourgue‘s mission is to attend the carious E-Board meetings and general body meetings of organizations, hearing from them directly. Gourgue is working closely with the current Vice President of Operations as she charts the way forward for the future.

With only six weeks down out of the Spring semester, the next academic year is already being considered by the new Executive Board. With a gleam of hope in their eyes, they promise the best for the present and future student body on University Campus.
