As the semester is coming to a close, some students will be back next semester, but for others, this is the last couple of weeks of their academic careers at Saint Leo University. The Lions Pride Newspaper would like to give some of its seniors a spotlight to recognize their accomplishments from their time here at Saint Leo University.

This week’s spotlight is Catherine Tallant. Catherine is graduating with a major in psychology and a minor in political science. Saint Leo University was Catherine’s second choice, her first was the United States Naval Academy. Catherine was very involved in ROTC (Reserve Officers’ Training Corp) in high school, as well as having family members who are active in the military.  She also found out recently that she was accepted into her first choice for her doctorate schooling, Argosy University, for a doctorate in clinical psychology for family and marriage counseling. Family has always been very close to Catherine’s heart and she cannot wait to help families and couples.

While at Saint Leo University, Catherine has been very active not only academically, but also with the organizations and staff on campus. Many students might know Catherine as a tutor in the Learning Resource Center (LRC), as she has helped tutor students in both psychology and criminal justice. She also worked as a supplemental instructor for law.

Catherine also presented research on cyberbullying in college at the South Eastern Psychology Association (SEPA). She has also made the Dean’s List and was involved in several honor societies such as Pi Sigma Alpha: Political Science Honor Society, Phi Gamma Mu: Social Science Honor Society, Psi Chi: Psychology Honor Society, and Society of Leadership and Success.

Catherine also belonged to several other organizations on campus which include: Samaritans Senator for two years, Psychology Club, and Research Club. Catherine is also an active member of Sigma Sigma Sigma Sorority and has held the following positions during her time here at Saint Leo: Vice President, Education, Alumnae Relations, Sisterhood, Awards and Accreditations, and Treasurer Assistant.

It is hard to dispute that Catherine has made multiple accomplishments while at Saint Leo University, and it will be no surprise when she continues to achieve great things and bring pride to those who are closest to her.
