Navigate is a new tool that Saint Leo University launched on September 15. The tool is used to help students find their course schedules and contact information on success coaches and advisors, along with the ability to view instructor office hours.

Seniors at Saint Leo will receive alerts from success coaches and advisors if they are missing anything needed to graduate. They will receive alerts on the messaging section of the tool. Navigate can be accessed through a mobile app and online.

After clicking on the link to Navigate, students will be asked to fill out a four-question intake survey; afterward, the full website will be accessible.

On the left side of the home page are eight options to click through. The first option is To-dos and Events. On this page there is an option to add to-dos. There is also a spot to check for what there is to do today and for the rest of the week. Appointments are set up the same way.

The Resources page has different links to departments like the Bookstore, Campus Safety, and the Cannon Memorial Library. Students can “heart” the links that they visit the most. There are two options for the resources page. They are University Campus and WorldWide.

The Study Buddies option allows students to join study groups in their classes. The Surveys page has options to look at new, in progress, completed, and expired surveys.

The last two options are Messages and Class Schedules. These two links are pretty self-explanatory. Students can opt for their emails to be sent to Navigate, and the class schedule link is another way to see class schedules.

“I like that everything is in one spot, so I don’t have to go to a bunch of different places,” said Joseph Bartolomeo, a junior majoring in communications.

Bartolomeo has been taking advantage of the appointments tool because of how quickly he can set up meetings with his advisor, but also thinks that the Resources tool is one of the most useful on the app.

“I like resources the most because it gives me easy access to get information on important departments at school,” he said.

Navigate puts everything needed for students on or off campus on an easy-to-access website. It answers questions new students frequently ask. It also simplifies a lot of the tools that Saint Leo

already offers, making Navigate very accessible to everyone. This app and website could become a staple for the online aspect of Saint Leo for years to come.
