In the midst of the sudden drop in the temperature, on Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2018, the Campus Activities Board, (CAB) brought back it’s well anticipated snow tubing event.
Maurqise McGill, Middle School Education student and assistant chairperson for Special Events for Campus Activities Board said, “I wanted to bring snow to Florida for the people from the north to feel at home and the people from the south to see snow”.
A large, two-sided slide was set up and filled with a mountain of snow for all who wished to participate and to slide down with the use of snow tubes. A play area was also set up nearby in order for students to have some fun in the snow, either by making snow angels, having snowball fights, or other snow related activities they found to do.
Students were seen lining up to enjoy the wintertime fun from about 12:35 although the event wasn’t proposed to start until 1:00.
Due to technical difficulties, only one side of the slide was available for use by participants, nevertheless the event was still greatly supported by the Saint Leo University community.
A number of students, as well as members of faculty and administration were seen enjoying the winter fun. The snowtubing event had come at the perfect time, matching the recent drop in temperature and giving the Saint Leo University community the opportunity to continue to experience the enchanting spirit of the upcoming Christmas holiday.
The event was a great success on the part of the Campus Activities Board and is an annual event on University Campus, spreading the magical sentiment the Christmas holiday brings.
